On April 17, 1928, the members of the Lone Rock Baptist Church of rural New Lisbon voted to lease a half acre of land and the building on it for 18 years for $330.00 for a church in the Camp Douglas area. This was located at Post Corners about three miles north of Mill Bluff. The cheese factory on the land was remodeled and called “The Chapel.” The group meeting continued with the Lone Rock Baptist Church and shared the pastor, and George Greeno was the first Sunday School Superintendent. A few years later, Rev. Vern Slater became the pastor.

Then on December 18, 1934, this group decided to withdraw from their mother church. So Bethel Baptist Church was organized with forty-two charter members. They continued to share the pastor with Lone Rock for about six more years. Rev. Otto McKegney was pastor at this time. They soon decided to build on the land which had been given to them by Ingevaar Peterson. This was just across the road from The Chapel. Most of this building is a part of the present structure. As fast as the old Chapel was torn down, it was carried across the road and nailed into place. The new building was dedicated on October 19, 1947. Rev. Rudolph Hunt was called in 1948 to pastor the two churches.
